Renee Perks has been to Victory Lane more times than Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin. Renee will serving her sixth year as Miss Winston. She officially started her duties as a representative of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in May 1996. Part of her job includes greeting the winning driver in Victory Lane at the conclusion of Winston Cup series races. "I share their excitement!" Renee speaks with childlike enthusiasm, "Having served as Miss Winston over several racing seasons; the drivers, crew chiefs, and team members have all become part of my racing family. When they win, its like having your best friend win!" Renee is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she earned a degree in exercise physiology. She works as a personal trainer in addition to her duties as Miss Winston and other modeling assignments. Currently residing in South Carolina, Renee grew up in Livonia, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit, but has traveled extensively throughout the world. She has lived in Brazil and Scotland, birthplace of her mother and father respectively, and visited countries like Egypt, India, Greece, and the Philippines. She speaks both Portuguese and Spanish. Being Miss Winston is a demanding job. Renee usually arrives track side early morning soon after the garage gates open, and is among the last to leave. Then there are social functions in the evening, attending charity events and sponsor functions. "I'm on my feet and walking around the garage area most of the weekend. It's my own personal fitness routine". Miss Perks states there are many "perks" associated with being Miss Winston. Traveling from race to race in the corporate jet ranks high. "Also, I have use of a motor home trackside on race weekends." Miss Winston attends the annual awards banquet held each year at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. "All this and they pay me too!" Before she became Miss Winston, Renee wanted to continue her education to become a physical therapist, a career she might continue to pursue. "That may be in the future. Right now, I'm happy R.J. Reynolds keeps inviting me back." We are too.
