Miss Winston is selected from a submittal process of resumes and photos received from potential candidates. Final selection is made after a series of interviews conducted by a Model and Talent Agency and R.J. Reynolds.

What is the Miss Winston selection criteria?

Miss Winston must be at least 21 years of age, personable, photogenic, available for travel, willing to work long hours, and love racing and it's fans.

What are the duties of being Miss Winston?

Miss Winston's official duties include meeting and greeting drivers, crew members, NASCAR personnel, corporate sponsors, dignitaries, guests and race fans at NASCAR Winston Cup events. Miss Winston participates in pre-race activities, post-race Victory Lane celebrations and other special events during the race weekend. Additionally, Miss Winston attends corporate functions, makes special appearances at grand openings and other special events.

Each year, two candidates are selected to serve as Miss Winston. Each Miss Winston will alternate on scheduled race weekends. Occasionally, both will attend special race weekends, such as Daytona Speedweeks or The Winston.

How long can one serve as Miss Winston?

Miss Winston is under contract to R.J. Reynolds on a yearly basis. The contract can be renewed. Rene Perks is currently serving her fourth year as Miss Winston.

The selection process for Miss Winston begins at MARILYN's, the Professional Model & Talent Agency under contract to R.J. Reynolds. Marilyn Green, owner of the agency served as the first Miss Winston. Resumes and photos can be sent to MARILYN's at 601 Norwalk Street, Greensboro, NC 27407. Resumes can be sent at anytime. Pre-selection and interviews are conducted during November and December. Final interviews and selection take place in January, prior to the racing season.
